The following is the 27-minute speech that was given by Bono at the National Day of Prayer breakfast in 2006. As you watch this video let me encourage you NOT to look for what you disagree with Bono on, but allow your heart to be moved by the Words of God that come from his mouth. What does this mean for us as the Church, as a nation, as a family?

Thanks for posting this Jeff. God is on the move. The kingdom is once again in-breaking. Something is stirring. Bono is a part of that stirring.
He's right, religion has gotten in the way. And the gospel brings jubilee to the poor and the victim of AIDS. Somehow the evangelical "personal salvation" gospel neglected that gospel, even as other Christian streams have neglected the personal salvation gospel.
Here is a call for holism. And for American evangelical churches that's going to mean learning A LOT more about justice and the heart of Jesus. AMEN. And amen.

I just downloaded "An Evangelical Manifesto" concerning politics. I'm intrigued what it will say. If I like, I might sign it.

The evangelical manifesto was good. It repented of various extremes within the evangelical movement (from fundamentalism and withdrawal from society to political theocracy and dominance of society). I appreciated the constant calling to kingdom advancement and loyalty to king Jesus. It placed Jesus as the sole authority. It affirmed the separation of church and state while also affirming the kingdom obligation for God's people to engage public life with the hope of the gospel. Signers included numerous leaders I would trust. Bravo, evangelical manifesto!

Hey, thanks for posting this video, Jeff. I just watched it this morning. I admire Bono's conviction and courage here. Inspiring start to my Saturday, for sure.
